Vani Arcuragi was born in São Paulo, Brazil, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biomedicine and her Master’s degree in Clinical Analysis. When she came to the United States in 1996 to visit her brother, who studied music at Berklee College of Music, she met her husband, originally from Ohio, and they got married in 1998.

She worked at Emory University as a Research Specialist at the Neuropsychopharmacology department for 6 years, but after her son reached school age, she decided to work at schools, so she could have the same schedule as he had.  She was still able to work, but also be at home for her son. She has also worked as a Project Manager at a Designing company and as a Clinical Partner at Piedmont Hospital.

She has worked at CCSD for 6 years, first as a Special Education Paraprofessional and now as a Parent Resource Specialist. She is the proud mother of a son.

I was born in Colombia but my family and I moved to Georgia 16 years ago. I grew up in Barranquilla, went to school and got my Bachelor’s Degree in engineering there. Then, I got married and had a son.

After that, we moved to the US and we had our second child.  Since then, I went to grad school here at GSU where I got my Master’s Degree in Spanish with concentration in Linguistics and Translation. I’ve been working for the Cobb County School District for 14 years teaching Spanish, ESOL and in the last few years, doing Family and Community engagement work as a parent Facilitator for the International Welcome Center.

I enjoy traveling, the cinema and reading a good book. I’m very pleased to continue here, and I’m trying my best in assisting students and families in order to achieve success.
