This program is for students in grades 9-12 who qualify to participate.

These are the requirements to participate in the program:

  • Student must be enrolled in a participating, eligible Georgia high school or home school program
  • Each high school must sign a participation agreement in order for their students to participate
  • Student must be at least 14 years of age as of the first day of enrollment term AND have completed first semester of 9th grade
  • Student must complete the admissions process and be admitted to the College
  • Student must be enrolled in a course from the approved Dual Enrollment directory – listed on Georgia Student Finance Commission’s (GSFC) website (www.gsfc.org)
  • Student must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)

Keep in mind that each College/ University will have their own admission process/ requirements. (SAT/ACT/ COMPASS, GPA, essays etc.)

Students may enroll in college or technical college on a part time or full time basis.  In addition to receiving a high school diploma, students are able to earn college credits at NO COST.  In fact, some students are able to receive a high school diploma AND an associate’s degree at a college or technical college.

This really is an amazing opportunity for students who feel that they are ready to begin taking college or technical college classes without having to pay for college tuition, fees and books.  Many colleges and technical colleges in Georgia offer this program including Kennesaw State University and Chattahoochee Technical College.  For DACA students (who must pay out of state tuition at state colleges) this offers the opportunity to earn college credits at no cost.

Below is a link on the Georgia Department of Education web site with a great deal of information.  Also, your high school counselor will be able to tell you if you qualify and will be able to give you other details.
